The Mercian Regiment was given the “Freedom To Enter The Town” by the mayor of Sandbach today…

Missed that-went through Sandbach as well—-Nice one Ian–perhaps better to have not nicked the lieutenants  ceremonial sword off at the top==my guess  is you have more shots with the full sword though—great  “proper”  photo.

Thanks, Ken. It’s shot with a Fuji 35mm prime (equivalent to a 50mm on full-frame). So I’m afraid losing the top of the sword was a compromise to get other aspects of the framing right – to do with being near enough but still including both the cap and the sword hilt. So the top of the sword had to go. Win some, lose some, eh? 😉

Anyway, it’s gritty documentary photography, rather than a competition entry, so no worries! 😉

(Used Silver Efex Pro 2 to get the film ‘look’ – Fuji Neopan Pro 1600 pushed 2 stops, if I remember right.)

I like the grainy black and white effect which I think siuts the subject. He has a good pose and expression. I might have cropped out the guy on the far left??
