This morning’s edition of “L’Oeil De La Photographie” has an article about the Irving Penn centenary exhibition that is currently being shown at the Grand Palais in Paris. The article, which includes a gallery with a selection of Penn’s work, is an informative – if rather scholarly – piece by the editor of The Stockolm review. It comments on several of Penn’s famous pictures that appear in the exhibition but sadly not in the article; however, as Penn is one of the greatest photographers of the last 100 years, the time spent looking the pictures up on Google Image Search may prove worthwhile.
Would have been 100 this very year–hence centenary exhibition. Really truly a “Great”– well worth a pop over to Paris. Think it was his early art training which set him up. Thanks Ian –everyone should Google his pics.
