AND SO with my new lens went to get an exhibition photo of the Union of South Africa at the Crewe Heritage Centre—and there she was in all her glory being fired up in the coal yard all looking a bit sad.

Very nice photo ian of the bike and narrow boat–like to see the lead in with the rope tethered. Nice ripples -interesting and pleasing to view. Good with your mono- ( give him his seat back)-

Very nice set of transport shots with your new lens, Ken. It does a really good job!

Well done y’all. Didn’t realise the streamlining on those locos doubled as a front boot!

The missing seat is an anti-theft measure, though I have known masochists ride without one! When I was cycling I remember some old boys who would rather have expired than disturb their carefully honed riding position by removing the seat but now, well the suspicion is if it’s removable you might lose it!

This is the Pierpoint winding hole (i.e. turning place) between lock 56 and lock 55, at the Pierpoint Bridge (bridge 145) on the Trent & Mersey Canal Main Line – the last canal added to Britain’s two-centuries-old canal transport system. (‘Winding’ is pronounced as in what you do to a baby after feeding, rather than what you do to a clock!)

    How surreal this group looks!

    Great example, Wallace.

All very good indeed- but the last one is an absolute cracking mono in every respect. Easily will take some beating this month or in next seasons comps. The superb lighting makes and excellent photo top class. Amazing–as we see static re-enactment pics. then Ian comes along with a static person photo that is so real and full of life. Just look at those hand rails-you could jump on –her stance and posture waiting for a ticket is real.Great photo–thinking twice now about posting my lame effort.

Will make no excuses for my effort–perhaps give you “Fuel” for thought.

Thank you for your very kind comments, Ken. Much appreciated. And your own contribution extends the range of our examination of ‘Transport’ in a new and interesting direction. (Shades of ‘Ed Ruscha’s watershed conceptual series “26 Gasoline Stations’!)
