There’s a notice in the Library about an up and coming event in Crewe and nantwich which might be a good photographic opportunity. There is a Kings Shilling and Poppy Parade planned on the 3rd of August 2014 starting at 11am at the Barony in Nantwich and heading towards Crewe on a 2.5 mile walk ending at the Queens Park in Crewe. People will be in period costumes Soldiers and civilians alke. A picnic is planned along with a variety of entertainment.
Thanks for alerting us to this, Meg. I found some details here, but there are no timings.
Elsewhere, I discovered that the walk will start at the Barony Park at 11am. I guess it will reach Queens Park, Crewe, about an hour later, where the events continue with a picnic, stalls and activities, and music provided by the CO OP Funeral Band, South Cheshire Pipe Band and local choirs. The event will include a service of commemoration at 2pm at the Boer War Memorial. There will be a free shuttle bus service between the Barony Park and Queens Park.
My apologies folks I had just enough time whilst on the library computer to put main information on before being kicked off. I had meant to go back and put more on. So thanks for the Mac. Also thought this would be right up your street Ken. Plus being at the Queens Park I thought it’d flat enough for you as well. Hope to see you there.
