Ok I’ll kick it off for the club. Well done to a good night all round. Not just because we won,but the fact that we had a judge who spoke with authority on the subject. I think Tom put it well when he said that looking over the images beforehand made for a better appraisal rather than on the night judging. Mr T. Kleinhans was an eloquent speaker and judge and marked fairly,I thought. I don’t know what anybody else thought, though from general comments the night seemed to be far fairer and critcally successful. So once again well done to all those who competed, you did your clubs proud.
I agree Meg. A really good evening. The constructive criticism and attention to detail made possible because the judge had spent time and studied the image made such a difference. It was a very high standard and nice to see so many creative images appreciated by a quality judge. I loved the lady psycho! I also do think that tone mapping and HDR is becoming far more acceptable and we all ( well … those who like that sort of thing ) should brush up on our techniques a little.

Yes a great success all round. None of our images scored less than 15 and the killers were the two 20s by Ian and Darren. Leek always run us close and I thought they would just sneak it especially when it came down to scoring the lady phycho. She got 18 and we made it by 2 points!
Tillman was his usual brilliant self. In depth analysis of technique and creativity, amply and convincingly justifying the marks he gave every time. He’s in demand a lot and we have to book him early.
The apprentice projectionists were brilliant with scarcely a blip noticeable.
