I captured this image at the Manchester Velodrome and despite what some people might think the background was somewhat blotchy.  I have cleaned the image up to the best of my ability and I wondered what you think about it.  Worthy of our club competitions or learn from it and move on?

Looks good on the mobile screen Martin. We have your Raw Power in the NCPS and, no doubt we will put it in the Nantwich Battle too. I took no notice of the comments about the background? Only an expert would know that. Roger was wise enough to realise that; did you notice that Wallace’s Splits got a few adverse comments  utility still got 19!

Thanks John.  It looks a bit distorted at the moment, I think it must be the way it has been resized.  I think I will see what it looks like printed and give it a go next season.  The original looks OK on my laptop.

The background doesn’t look blotchy to me and don’t think it’s fair to judge a photo under a microscope. The only thing I would say is that as the background is a single tone it’s difficult to get that sense of movement you get when you pan something with a textured background. The main impression of speed is in the wheels. I also think that your two bike shots show us that you don’t need 3 objects in a picture to get a good photo like some people suggest.
