Ken >>> thanks for that, I love learning new stuff πŸ™‚

D >>> Although it’s a country park it really is quite desolate, so I’d love to know why the ribbon was put there myself.

I thought that Ladybirds died in the winter but apparently they hibernate, sometimes in large groups all huddled together. You learn something new every day.

Okay, I’m taking a bit of a liberty with the theme … but it was taken at this time of year!

I had a wander around Tegg’s Nose Country Park yesterday, it was bloody freezing … not to mention windy and damp!

That’s okay Ken, I think the built in Windows adjustment routine does a similar thing with regard to greyscale … it’s certainly an improvement over what it was previously. I’ll give it a go with the Spyder and if I have any joy I’ll share whatever I learn πŸ™‚

I’m more worried they’ll look overly dark to be honest with you John. I’ve pretty much got them sorted now so sending them to you early won’t be an issue.

Can someone confirm who I need to speak to about the Spyder please?

That’s a lovely story Ken, and a lovely photo to go along with it … thanks for sharing.

I have to admit to ever so slightly cheating Ken, I was in York with my girlfriend mid August and these images fit the theme so well I couldn’t resist πŸ™‚

I don’t normally write any of the thoughts behind my photos as they’re probably more important to me than anyone else. However, I’m making an exception for these … they were taken at York Railway Museum and remind me of my Grandad who was a dyed-in-the-wool railwayman and an engine driver for 45 years, starting on the steam footplate as a fireman and ending his career as a mainline diesel/electric driver. He told me many tales over the years of his working exploits … he died when I was 21 and I still miss him.

I’m not sure this works on any level but it’s certainly different!

Some good points John. Though I’ve been taking photographs (snaps) for years and only more recently taking them seriously (for want of a better word) I only buy one magazine and that’s Digital Photo. Funnily enough it probably fits into the category of Photoshop instruction magazine … at least that’s what I mainly buy it for, that and the Lightroom tips.

All these instructions and tips are generally available on the internet, quite a lot being presented nicely as videos on sites such as Youtube, but there’s still a part of me that gets excited by the next edition of a magazine coming out and the desire to read it from cover to cover! For a technophile such as myself (or geek if you will) you might find it surprising that I prefer paper to pixels, I guess I’m just old fashioned like that. The down side is they certainly don’t come cheap and I find it’s not long before the content becomes ‘samey’.

I love to see other people’s work but, other than on a club social level, I’m not interested in famous photographers as people particularly.

There you have it, my tuppence worth!

I’ve posted something under ‘How to insert images in posts‘ that Ian started, just in case anybody would like to use Dropbox.

Valid last point John, which applies to all cloud storage sites, if you delete the original image the link will be broken and the forum post will be image-less. Having said that, the same will happen if you delete the original image from the gallery section of the CPS site.

Sorry Ken, but that’s a myth that’s a old as the hills…well, first noticed in 2006 at least!

I use Dropbox for my images and there’s a right and a wrong way to link directly to images on there too … not that they advertise the correct way!

Apologies if I’m treading on toes but I’ve worked in IT for a good number of years and I’m willing to help anyone with these kind of techie problems where I can. And on that note, back to the photographs!
