Open Evening Success – 18 September 2014

September 19, 2014 in Crewe PS news

Thanks to our 4 speakers last night; Dolores Williams, Sharon Barton, Ian Whiston, and Paul Hill. It was a great success; getting everyone involved and many contributing. It gave our new members a great opportunity to find out who is who and what expertise they have to help them. We covered the use of ND filters in landscape photography, On-One Software, preparing a photo in Photoshop and print mounting.

NO meeting at Crewe Library next week. Instead we all decamp to the Alsager 13 Club to see the 5-Towns Monochrome Print Competition hosted by Alsager CC. The judge is one of the most respected in the Union (and nationally too now), Christine Widdall, so a great opportunity to see a top judge in action and witness us give Nantwich, Alsager, Sandbach and Whitchurch a good run for their money! The event STARTS at 7.30. Please note this, get there early, the car park looks a good size but if you cannot find a space you will have to use the Library Car park and make the short walk. See PROGRAMME.

The PAGB Inter-Club Print Championships at Edge Hill University – 9.30 on 25 October. 36 clubs, representing all 15 Federations of photographic societies will do battle for the Championship Trophy. This is a great opportunity to see what the top clubs are up to with their prints – the very best showcase there is for club work. Tickets are limited in number, so go for it, tickets are available here. Also PAGB enews is all about the Championships – read it here.PAGB eNews 124

Photography Day at Tutbury Castle – 5th October. This was mentioned last night. Tickets are £10 and car parking £1. I would expect we can get £1 off for 10 tickets but it is a bit tight to organise now with no meeting next week at Crewe. I’ll be in touch again about this.

We are now making selections for the Robertshaw Trophy. The event is on 6 October the event is hosted by Macclesfield and is at their club room, the Library in Macclesfield. Entries have to be in on Monday.

All details are on the PROGRAMME and/or EVENTS page.
