PAGB Inter-Club PDI Championships
July 13, 2016 in Crewe PS news
Some of us are off to Warwick on Saturday to see this popular PAGB Inter-Club competition. One added item of interest this year is that Alsager CC are taking part. We wish them all the best, it is a challenging event, with many tactical decisions to make during the day as well as, of course, having a good set of work to choose from!
It is worth remembering that we are very closely matched with Alsager and their success on Saturday is a guide to how well we might do if we were selected. Our performance in all the L&CPU competitions tends to place us in the top ten clubs and with Wigan 10 and Chorley often making the championship rungs of the ladder (and thereby being automatically invited to take part) we do stand a real chance of being asked by the L&CPU to take part. Would you members be ready for it?
Speaking of successes in the L&CPU competitions we have made a feature of those a few times recently but the prize presentations took place last Saturday and Ian kindly collected our awards, which will be presented on our first club night. They include a third place for Ian himself in the Nature PDI – he was also equal first in the Nature PDI overall, Paul Hill made third place in the Nature prints and gained commendations and John Royle gained a ribbon in the monochrome prints. We had works selected for the PAGB Federation competitions, where Ian Whiston gained a Ribbon for “Cheetah Watching Over Cubs” (we still await the individual marks for that), and also the exhibition and folios. The Exhibition is still on (see EVENTS).
