You were very lucky with the cloudy dramatic sky without which the image would not be so dramatic.
Lucky?! You should see the original colour photo – light as flat as a pancake, and a uniform grey sky that’d make you weep. But all that detail is in there, hiding in the RAW file: it just needed a bit of judicious development with Silver Efex Pro to bring it all through.
As Ansel might have said, had he lived to see digital, “The RAW file is the score; the photo on your monitor is the performance!”
