The theme for March is now closed

    The theme for April is

    Still Life

A brand new month and a brand new theme. With us all being house bound the obvious theme to have for this month is Still Life. It’s readily available and there’s a wide range of subject matter from extreme close ups to whole rooms. However, I’d like to challenge you to produce something more interesting than the standard record shot. Experiment with different apertures for creative focusing techniques or try using a slow shutter speed and introduce a blurry moving object in your picture. Now is your chance to try out that focus stacking technique you always wanted to try or produce a creative composite. I think the secret of successful still life photography is in the planning. You’re full control of the subject and lighting. You experiment and if things don’t work you can change them. So why not post a few images for members to enjoy or just comment on one others post?

    .

For some inspiration and excellent examples have a look at the photoblog’s website
There’s also some super advice and images on Creative Bloq
For some sound technical advice see the Format website.

The way we now upload images has changed. To make it easier just resize your photograph as you would for a PDI competition. That is size it to fit in a 1600x1200px frame them it will neatly fit into the post. You have to type in some text first or the picture will fail to upload. Then click on the BROWSE button below to search your device for the picture. You can upload up to 4 images at a time. When you’ve finished uploading and adding your text press the SUBMIT button. See the illustration below for advice.

There‚Äôs no restriction on when the photograph was taken so search though your archives show us what you can produce. If you would like to suggest any topics for the monthly theme please let me know. Thank you to everyone who contributed to last months’ theme.
