At the committee meeting we heard from our webmaster, Peter Robinson, that the number of visits to our website are down this year. The total has been nearly halved. Why? Our efforts with the site have not let up in the slightest; in fact they are greater than ever, with more involvement, a redesign, and switching to https to make sure there is no discouragement to browsers.
My own theory is that social media is to blame, taking the traffic away from websites. Does anyone know of any evidence that this is true? If it is we need to take that into account in our efforts to attract new members.
The website remains a great resource for existing members. The number of downloads of competition documents I put on the website, the ones invisible to anyone but members, is very healthy indeed, and the Forums are probably more popular than ever.
