Ian McNab has informed me that Flickr, who were taken over by SmugMug a few months ago,  are going to increase the cost of their Pro version to nearly $50, about £38 per year. They’re also down grading the free version to have a maximum of 1000 images and  are removing the 1TB of storage space.

For more details please see the link Ian kindly supplied me with.

It does look like another step away from the platform where people could freely share their photographs for other to enjoy and comment on.

It looks a good deal—–1000 images for free. Pro looks very good value for money. It is very true—There is no such thing as a free dinner. So easier sign in—no ads—all looks good to me.

Tha whole gammet is now listed on the Flicker site and obvious this will be an excellent upgrade.Thirty eight pounds per year to store each and every photo you ever take if you so wish.5k available and so much in the pipeline. 10 videos —1000 images for free users—how many free users have posted 1000 images.Looks like a good upgrade offering a professional service.

I’m surprised just how much you can get for ‘free’. Lots of free phone apps and software is available. I keep expecting them to charge for my email service. I expect we all do pay for it through over sources when we buy the products they advertise.
