The theme for June is ‘Gardens’

As we’re experiencing exceptional dry and hot weather this summer our gardens are starting to blossom early. Even if you don’t have one yourself there’s plenty of parks now open for enjoying your exercise. While you’re there why not practise your garden photographic techniques. There are so many different way you can photograph a garden. You can go for the general view photographing the whole thing or move in close and and record the fine detail of the vibrant blossoms. Use your depth of field creatively to concentrate just one element of the flower with it’s out of focus petals framing it. You could also photograph any insects visiting your garden. Challenge yourself to capture a bee in flight!

Ephotomagazine has some great ideas and advice for photographing gardens on different ways. Have a look here.

Nikon also give plenty of tips here.

To make it easier just resize your photograph as you would for a PDI competition. That is size it to fit in a 1600x1200px frame them it will neatly fit into the post. You have to type in some text first or the picture will fail to upload. Then click on the BROWSE button below to search your device for the picture. You can upload up to 4 images at a time. When you’ve finished uploading and adding your text press the SUBMIT button. See the illustration below for advice.

There‚Äôs no restriction on when the photograph was taken so search though your archives show us what you can produce. If you would like to suggest any topics for the monthly theme please let me know. Thank you to everyone who contributed to last months’ theme.
