Next week end all the razzmatazz starts at the NEC with the Photography Show.
Having bought your tickets online at a discount using the code PAGBTPS19 and booked your train or parking online you will be eagerly awaiting the Aladdins Cave that awaits. You will have questions you want answered and will have stalls or talks underscored to visit.
A couple of years back I had the pleasure of listening to Salgado speak at the show. Towards the end he made a remark which was to the effect that all the stuff outside on the stands isn’t needed to take good photographs.
Your photography is about you; your story, your interests, your knowledge, your “eye” and all the fancy gear in the World will not do that for you.
In specialist work good kit may give you an edge but cheaper kit (for use on subjects in the normal range of vision) is very good these days. So don’t fall into the commercialist’s trap of thinking you have to make an upgrade, be very careful what you buy.
