I agree with Peter that Carl’s image, featured this week on the front page is better with the foreground boat. I am sure that if the judge had given himself a little more time to contemplate the image he would not have suggested it. It would make the interest in the image too far away.
I have stopped encouraging newcomers to start entering our competitions straight away – it was only because of our league system – if you miss a competition it is a handicap. In Carl’s case it was obvious from his website pictures that his work was going to be strong enough – he only had to learn to polish up his images in the typical club fashion.
I really like the look of the image – the languid atmosphere is so well caught – and how brave to include the sun – and successfully too.
Another member who is exciting us all is Stephen Coyne, another much-travelled photographer, who has presented us already with two images which we are using in the L&CPU KO.
Let’s not forget our old faithfuls whilst we are handing out praise. Peter is doing remarkably well in our competitions and is surely a contender for Photographer of the Year already. He is also doing a lot of work which helps to promote the club through Cheshire East and the Town Council.
