Alsager recently hosted our annual competition with them via a Zoom meeting It was a highly entertaining, well attended meeting judged by the talented Cherry Larcombe EFIAP ARPS DPAGB BPE*4 who’s a member of Eastbourne PS. Cherry told us the standard of photography was very high and her marks would reflect that. 48 images were entered and Crewe just edged it with 429 points to 416. It was quite close all the way through and came down to the final few photos that had been held back. The quality was so high that Cherry gave 5 of them 20 marks. We then picked up the extra points to nick the victory. Alsager had some excellent photographs of which they can be very proud. Cherry was pressed to give an overall winner and she chose Ian Whiston’s stunning ‘Lioness rejecting Males Advance’. She seemed to like everything about the photograph saying it had a powerful interaction between the lions and Ian caught it at the right moment. She enjoyed the warm low rim lighting which created a good atmosphere. The sharp lions stood out well from the out of focus background.
