John Royle has been an enthusiastic and active Crewe Photographic Society member for over 18 years. He had a 6 year spell as our Programme Secretary, a 6 year spell as our diligent Competition Secretary and over 15 years as our Chairman. John was also a respected L&CPU judge for many years. He has given our club a terrific service and has been our rudder and his devotion has not gone unrecognised. The L&CPU have presented him with their prestigious honorary membership and likewise we have bestowed him a honorary membership of Crewe Photographic Society. John is taking a well earned rest from these official duties, but will continue to serve the Committee as a member without portfolio. His experience in club photography will be invaluable. The time John has devoted to the Society must have limited his time to actually taking photographs! So at last he’ll be able to get out more to exercise his third eye. Although Johns’ had some success in competitions his carefully constructed photographs aren’t always appreciated by judges. It’s obvious that he puts a lot of thought and care into composing and timing his images. They don’t always tick a judges boxes, but that doesn’t mean they’re not good photographs. He has a fine eye for detail in Natural History and I particularly like his monochrome images. See some of John’s photographs here
