I’ve received this information from the L&CPU concerning a couple of exhibitions they’re hosting in Leigh.
The L&CPU has two large exhibitions this summer, both held at a new venue:
Leigh Spinners Mill, Park Street, Leigh, Lancashire. WN7 2LB
This venue is being turned into a community centre and is keen to welcome the L&CPU.

L&CPU Annual Exhibition
The exhibition opens on Saturday 6th July at 2:15, after the annual awards ceremony at 1pm, this being held in the mill Engine House between the two compound engines, Mayor and Mayoress.
There is ample parking and a lift to the exhibition.
It runs until 5th August. Please check Leigh Spinners website for further details:
The L&CPU are again hosting the PAGB touring exhibition and this follows directly on from the annual exhibition.
The official opening is on Saturday 10th August at 11am and it finishes on the 3rd September.
It’s worth making a day out or your visits, not only to photograph the steam engines but also to visit Astley Green Colliery, a few miles away on the East Lancs road. This museum boasts the only surviving pit head gear but two very large compound steam engines as well as lots of interesting stuff in the yard.
