Congratulations to Martin McGing on winning the Colour General and Nature sections of our first Lockdown League PDI League. Judge Rebecca Entwistle awarded Martin’s ‘Grasstrack Veteran’ top marks in the colour general section. She told us the action shot has the wow factor to separate it from the crowd. Rebecca enjoyed the movement Martin created by panning the bike, and by the right shutter speed gave motion blur in the wheels. The flying rubble added to the impression of speed. In the Nature section, Martin’s ‘Owl Butterfly’ was awarded 20 marks. Martin visited Chester Zoo with a CPS colleague where he photographed the colourful insect. However, he had to wait a while for his camera to acclimatise to the humid environment before he could take any pictures. Rebecca thought the owl butterfly was sharp and well separated from the background. She also liked the lighting and strong colours. Paul Hill took first spot in the mono section with his technically excellent ‘Cleveden Peir’. Paul used a long exposure to flatten the water which gave a surreal effect.
