Congratulations to Stephen Coyne how won our PDI league for this season. He scored 136 marks, beating Peter Robinson by one. Stephen has consistently produced excellent photographs for us to enjoy, and this season his mono work has excelled.

Stephen laid down his mark in our first PDI competition by winning both our Colour General and Mono competitions. In fact, Stephen took first, second and third spots in the Mono section, so it was a very good day at the office for him. Judge Nick Berentzen CPAGB, BPE3, enjoyed Stephen’s winning ‘colour general’ image called ‘Going Down’ which showed a hooded lady walking downstairs. Nick liked the subject position, the warm colour pallet and composition. Stephen’s second placed ‘Cowgirl Lil’ was taken at a re-enactment event in the shade to avoid the harsh sunlight. Nick told us it told a story with the poster describing the girl was wanted! Stephen’s winning Mono image, ‘Tired of War’ showed a close-up of a warrior’s face. Nick liked to impact, expression and strong eyes. Stephen’s came second with a composite called ‘Searching for the hound, Watson’ Again Nick liked the story and thought it was well put together. Stephen also too third place with another re-enactment portrait of a cowboy called ‘Get off my land’.

The judge for our PDI 2 competition was the highly qualified, Roger Evans MPAGB FBPE EFIAP. In the Mono section, Stephen Coyne took the first and second spots with his ‘Hard day on the beat’ and ‘Ready to saddle up’. Roger thought both were well crafted photos of re-enactors. In both images, he liked the good eye contact and framing.

In our PDI 3 competition, judge Rebecca Entwistle loved Stephen’s delightful mono study of two ‘Otters’ and awarded it scored 19 marks. Rebecca enjoyed its humour and thought they could be having a conversation.  In the colour general section, liked the feeling of depth in Stephen’s ‘Midland Stairway’. It’s an image that you can walk into and lets your eye wander to its core. Well done, Stephen. You’re a worthy winner of the trophy.
