Our photographic exhibition in the newly-refurbished Platform art gallery in Market Street closed at the end of February. We are delighted to have held an exhibition of our talented members work. We had no less than 42 framed prints with a varied subject matter including landscapes, sport and wildlife in monochrome and full colour. Some of our members have been helping with the refurbishment by decorating and generally tidying of the building in preparation for its grand opening coinciding with the Crewe Christmas lights switch-on on 29th.November. We feel quite honoured to be have held our exhibition for their premier opening event, which has been admired by the town’s Mayor, Sally Graham and Councillor Ben Wye. We are also looking into holding photographic workshops to help people improve their photography in a friendly environment. Pop in to see our prints and the other exhibits sometime soon.
Crewe Creates co-director Jamie Chalmers said: “We were previously based in the former Works, now Greggs, and ran several creative workshops there from October to February this year. “Now we’ve signed a 10 year lease for this wonderful new space. It’s a big leap but we’re committed to Crewe and have big plans for the building. If we can get the funding, we are excited to deliver them and to find new ways to support the creative community in Crewe and the surrounding areas.”
