Congratulations to member Ian Whiston EFIAP/g DPAGB ABPE who has been awarded an EFIAP GOLD ( Excellence International Federation of Photographic Art). I couldn’t but it better than this quote from our Chairman:

“Well done Ian. Even with Ian’s exceptional strike rate, this is a great achievement. The Gold award needs 500 acceptances from 150 works in 15 different countries. I think lockdown time is paying off too in his preparation of pictures for the next application, Platinum, which is something like 700, 200, 20.”

Ian has been enjoying his photography for nearly 50 years and joined Crewe Photographic Society in 2001. He’s also Competition Secretary of Mid Cheshire Photographic Society. He started the distinction trail in 2007 and achieved his first in 2010 with a BPE1*. Since then he hasn’t looked back and admits to being addicted to accumulating awards. He’s regularly visits Kenya’s game parks to photograph wildlife and has had his amazing photographs exhibited in over 30 countries. Ian is quiet modest about his awards and many members may not realise that he’s has achieved over 960 acceptances and over 260 awards which includes many gold medals. He won the PAGB Nature Photographer GB Cup in 2013 and has been the L&CPU’s Nature Photographer of the Year 5 times! He also somehow finds the time to judge and lecture.
