During the L&CPU’s AGM on 28th.March,  our devoted Competition Secretary, John Royle was awarded the L&CPU’s Roll of Honour Life Membership for his services to the L&CPU and club photography.
In his tribute to John, L&CPU President, James Hardy CPAGB LRPS told the 76 attendees:
“The Roll of Honour Life Membership of the L&CPU is awarded to individuals in recognition of their service
to the Union and to clubs, over a number of years.
For a good many years, John Royle has been a member and the ‘face of Crewe Photographic Society’.
He has been their Chairman for 15 Years – they do have a President, but the club is run by the chairman.
He retired from being their Chairman this year – but of course typically he has taken on the roll of their competition secretary
Being a biology teacher, he took that knowledge into his judging and also into his love of photography.
His photography skill was in Natural History although true to say he encompassed many other genres such as landscape
He has been active on the L&CPU Judges List from 2005
He joined the LCPU Executive Committee in 2008 and at the 2009 Annual General Meeting took over the role of Webmaster
and also the responsibility of the Directory and Annual Returns from Gordon Jenkins.
With help from Ed Roper, the website was always kept up to date and updated every Monday morning and emails were sent out
to anyone who had signed up to receive them informing them of the latest news
He has always supported and attended LCPU events and has helped with the competitions both by acting as a drop-off point
and also at the judging sessions. It was a great loss when he retired from the committee.
We are therefore very happy to announce that John Royle has been invited onto the L&CPU Roll of Honour”
I’m sure we’ll all give John our congratulations and agree that his recognition is long over due.
