New member Sam Nutter won our second Lockdown League ‘Colour General’ section with ‘Found’. It’s beautiful and atmospheric photograph of a white horse. It was the first competition Sam has entered. Judge Roger Evans MPAGB FBPE EFIAP, thought it was an excellent portrait of the unsaddled horse and the misty background effect finished it off nicely. He appreciated the muted colour pallet and liked the eye contact. Sam also came equal second with Paul Hill’s ‘Crummock Water Copse’ in the ‘Mono’ section with her ‘You and I’. It’s another fine equine portrait of a young girl and a horse. Again it’s full of atmosphere and shows the strong bond between the horse and the girl. The catchlight in the eyes add life to the subjects. The girl’s face is the lightest part of the picture so it keeps your attention.

In the Colour General section, Paul Hill came equal second with his seascape ‘Storm hits Porthleven’ and Stephen Coyne’s ‘Emerging’ also scored 19. It’s a typical creative creation from Stephen showing windmills emerging from a misty sea.

Stephen also won the Mono section with ‘My Family and Me’. It’s a fine portrait of an oriental lady with her family in the background. Roger thought it was very well done and enjoyed the engaging lady’s smile. Paul Hill won the Nature section with his excellent panned photograph of a Eurasian Curlew and Ian Whiston came second with his ‘Jackal Pair at Wildebeest Carcass’. Ian also came joint third with ‘White Backed Vulture Landing’, while Wallace Baxter’s ‘Look out Meerkat’ also came third.Well done to all of the winners.
