Martin McGing is one our Society’s best portrait photographers. Last July the Society arranged a portrait workshop with two talented actors, Dean and Lynda. Martin continues the story…

“Last year Peter arranged a club portrait session with Dean and Lynda which was thoroughly enjoyed by the members. During my time with Dean and Lynda I discovered that they would be in Whitby at the same as me. They would be attending the Steampunk weekend and I would be on holiday. I said I would look out for them and say hello. Fast forward a few weeks and I did find them and they asked if I would take some images for the organiser so they could use them in the 2020 publicity. I agreed and sent ten full size jpegs to the organiser and promptly forgot about it. In taking the images my intention was capture activity, placement and allow for negative space to facilitate the addition of text. Although we were outside I did use on camera fill flash to ensure the detail in their costumes was not lost. For the technical manual mode 1/125 f8.0 ISO 400. f8 was selected to ensure sufficient depth of field for both couples.”

Make a note in your diary. Thanks Martin.
