It is always good to see the best work of the year assembled in the Annual. We had as our judge Christine Widdall MPAGB EFIAP BPE 5* who is a PAGB accredited judge and she gave us a first-rate commentary on each print recognising the strengths of the image and suggesting in some cases how it might be improved.

We have a 1st, 2nd and 3rd, then high commendations and commendations in each category; mono, colour (nature) and colour (general) and then an overall COLOUR winner is picked then an OVERALL BEST PRINT.

The results, together with the overall League Competition Tables are now posted HERE

The Mono came first and, out of a good sized field, Christine picked Tom by Peter Robinson as her winner. 2nd was Tension by Wallace Baxter and third was An Unhappy Man also by Wallace Baxter.

On to the Colour (Nature) and we had only 11 images to be put to the test. Kath Hill’s Nuthatch Feeding, which had just scored 14/15 in the L&CPU Club Print Annuals was first with Great Crested Grebe with Chick by Bob Brown second and Common Blue Damselfly by Paul Hill third.

Finally the Colour (General) was a big section again and Luke Jones 675cc Triumph by Wallace Baxter took the big prize followed by his Young Rider and then PC158 by John Royle.

Then to the selection of the section winners. Kath Hill won the Colour Section  but Peter Robinson took the top award of the evening with Tom.

Well done everyone for making an excellent entry this year, we have maintained the numbers well in a time which is seeing a decline in print entries. We have seen some exciting work from the new members which is very promising for the future. Congratulations to Peter Robinson, I don’t think many would disagree that Tom is the best print of the year and how fitting that it should be monochrome – an area which is showing a resurgence of interest in our club and will be given more prominence next year with a mono PDI category. Wallace also deserves a special mention for gaining a first, two seconds and a third! Kath will be pleased to see her print get first place twice in a week!
