On Friday 15th January CPS had a presence at the Resolve your Resolution event hosted by Creative Crewe, we had a display of members images which attracted the attention of all the visitors and also the other clubs/organisations that were present. Not only was it an event to showcase what our society can offer to prospective […]
Crewe PS Take A Bath – 21 Jan 2016 – Peter Robinso
Crewe PS are pleased to support the local history societies by helping with their photography and today two of us were recording some details of Crewe Swimming Pool, known to all as the Baths, which is shortly to be supplanted by the Life Style Centre. There was much civic pride in the Baths when they […]
Monochrome: A Talk by Peter Hrebien (14 January ’1
Peter and Vicky Hrebien have joined us this year, having moved up from East Anglia. They both have a lot of club experience, most recently with Bury St Edmunds PS. They both impressed us enormously with their first entries in one of our competitions and it was clear that Peter enjoys music photography, often […]
Second Competition for Projected Photos – Darrell
It was good to welcome Darrell Oakden back to judge for us. He is a member of Alsager CC and has had considerable success in nationals in recent times, quickly gaining BPE3* and a DPAGB. Montages figure quite a bit in his own work but he proved last time to be open-minded in looking at […]
PAGB Print Exhibition: Crewe Member’s Print Select
During our first meeting of 2016 we had the opportunity to celebrate the fact that Wallace Baxter LRPS has a print in the PAGB Exhibition currently at the Williamson Art Gallery in Birkenhead. The print was “Mature Rider” which we had all enjoyed when Wallace used it in our own competitions but when we entered […]

Peter Bainbridge : Photographing Aircraft – 10 Dec
A shot of the photographer’s enclosure at an airshow, bristling with telephoto lenses, showed that member Peter Bainbridge was certainly not alone in wanting to photograph aircraft. Peter’s talk was bristling too, with interesting facts, techniques and super shots. He got us so fascinated with all this that we almost over-ran. This was far from a plane […]

At the L&CPU event on Saturday 21 November Crewe PS tied for first place with Southport PS but then lost to them in a tie-break. However, Ian Whiston’s Cheetahs Looking For Prey (seen above) took the award for best image of the competition.
3rd December 2015 Meeting – Our second print compe
Before the meeting I complimented our secretary, Tom Seaton, on two of his entries and I was delighted that judge Bob Dennis agreed and gave one, “The Swimming Pool is Closed” first place in the Genera Colour section. Although two of our regular entrants were not able to compete this time we still had a […]
Alsager CC v Crewe PS 26 November 2015
Alsager fielded some excellent images, as indeed did we; and it was always likely to be a close thing. In the end Alsager took the charming trophy (a golden SLR) by just three marks. RESULTS. It was a very entertaining evening presided over the affable Daryl Giles CPAGB whose judging was light-hearted, well- balanced and well timed. The […]
