Our season ended last night; we have only the “Five Towns” Monochrome Print Competition, hosted by Nantwich CC, on Tuesday 7th May left on the calendar. The event starts at 7.30 at Nantwich CC’s new venue at Richmond Park. There is a map and plan that they provided here┬áHope to see many of you there.

The Five Towns is a competition for monochrome prints only and is for the Alan Challinor Trophy. The competing clubs are Alsager, Crewe, Nantwich, Sandbach and Whitchurch. Each club submits 10 prints.

I would like to publically thank Nantwich CC for their kind offer to calibrate our projector. This all started when they asked if they might borrow our machine for the Five Towns since they are having a slight problem with theirs. Naturally I agreed but we started talking about calibration and the offer was made by them to use their high grade calibration equipment on our projector.

Last night we looked at various bits and pieces that I hoped might draw you to using Ian’s tweets as a starting point. One person I mentioned in particular is JR; he doesn’t claim to be a photographer but is certainly using photography. Have a look at his website. JR is a great publicist as well as a great exponent of public art and you can watch the video of his TED acceptance speech, and the one he made one year later recounting the further work he and his collaborators had done – he is a captivating speaker (excellent English) and I’m sure you will enjoy it. Click this link to take a look.

Over the summer, in addition to getting out and getting the pictures I hope you will keep visiting us here to tell us what you are up to or to find out how the others are getting on. We will keep the site going as usual.
